The Rio Grande Chapter and the Committee for Communications and Outreach of the Health Physics Society are pleased to announce the topic for the 43rd Annual Midyear Meeting of the Health Physics Society will be Radiation Risk Communication to the Public. The 43rd Annual Midyear Meeting will be held January 24-27, 2010, at the DoubleTree Hotel and Albuquerque Convention Center. Discover captivating contrasts and genuine beauty in everything from ancient history to modern art, dramatic landscapes to meld weather, big city culture to natural charm. Day and night, this Southwestern city inspires. Albuquerque has 310 days of sunshine a year with a mild, dry climate. Average January temperature range from the mid 20°s to the low 50°s. The average annual rainfall is about 9 inches and the average relative humidity is only 44%. Transportation in and around Albuquerque is easily accomplished through ABQ RIDE, the local bus system featuring RapidRide, 60-foot long, articulated buses that accommodate up to 86 passengers running three distinct routes throughout the city. In addition, the Rail Runner Express is a new commuter rail system that runs to Belen in the south and Santa Fe in the north throughout the day. Registered spouses and companions will again enjoy the benefit of a Hospitality Suite during the 2010 Midyear meeting. The Suite will be open at 10:00 am on Monday, January 25 and will also be open on Tuesday and Wednesday. See the final program for exact room and times. Local HPS members will be available to help with planning day trips or selecting restaurants; newspapers, books, and games will also be available.
