Anastas AbstractThe Homeland Defense Equipment Reuse (HDER) Program is a unique partnership between the United States Department of Justice's (DOJ) Office for Domestic Preparedness (ODP), the United States Department of Energy's (DOE) Office of Assets Utilization, and the Health Physics Society (HPS). This paper describes the origins of the HDER Program, its goal, and the means by which it is carried out. This paper also addresses the benefits of the program, its current status, and plans for future expansion.
