Kase, and Asst Sec John Henshaw and HPS Pres Ken KaseDepartment of Labor Assistant Secretary for Occupational Safety and Health (OSHA), John L. Henshaw, signed an agreement establishing an Alliance between the OSHA and HPS. The Alliance is part of OSHA's Alliance Program, which enables organizations committed to workplace safety and health to collaborate with OSHA to prevent injuries and illnesses in the workplace. The OSHA and HPS Alliance will focus on radiological safety and health issues. OSHA announced the signing of the agreement in a news release on February 24, 2004.

The Alliance was drafted by the HPS Ad Hoc Committee for OSHA Alliance Development working with personnel from the OSHA Alliance Program office. The Ad Hoc Committee, which was established by President Kase, is Chaired by J. Scott Kirk with John Nagy, Ralph Andersen, Sean Austin, Cindy Boggs, and Linda Farrell serving as members. The Ad Hoc Committee will now transition into an implementation team to work with OSHA on implementing the provisions of the Alliance.
