Answer to Question #103 Submitted to "Ask the Experts"Category: Environmental and Background Radiation — Software The following question was answered by an expert in the appropriate field: Q
Does anyone know where I can get a copy/purchase a program called HotSpot?
A
The answer depends on which software is being referenced. I am familiar with at least two packages that may be of interest. The first is currently titled "Hotspot" (as of 8/2000) and was authored by Steven G. Homann of Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory. The software is available for download and may be found at: the Hotspot Health Physics Codes website. The second package, which was once known to some as HotSpot, was written by Jim Davidson while working at Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL). Jim is currently at Pacific Northwest National Laboratory (PNNL)—but this software is still available. The program was renamed Elipgrid-PC sometime back and has subsequently been incorporated into a new software package known as "Visual Sample Plan." Thank you to Steven Homann at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory for providing information pertaining to his software.
