Answer to Question #1420 Submitted to "Ask the Experts"

Category: Microwaves, Radar, and Radiofrequency — Satellite Dishes

The following question was answered by an expert in the appropriate field:

Q
On my roof there are two satellite dishes for cable TV. What effect do they have on the communication radio system and on our health?
A
TV satellite dishes are receiving antennas. They do not transmit any radio signals. Consequently they do not cause radiofrequency interference with other radio devices, and there is no opportunity for exposure of people to potentially harmful levels of radiofrequency energy.
